For The Gambia Our Homeland, I can visualise the clash of a fresh rainbow and the symbolic national colours of The Gambia hovering into sky space of Canada where the next World U-20 football summit will be held come June 2007.

The trade marked overachievement of our junior Scorpions in recent years to both the continental and world stages has explicitly exposed and vindicated our country in her own right, as another football developing farmland. Therefore, the more we discover the waters of such highly marked international events, the more we land and get satisfaction.

In the annals of sporting lexicon, "Life is a teacher, the longer you live, the more you learn." Congratulations to The Gambia, players in particular, Coach Bonu and his technical and medical staff, the entire contingent from head of mission to the fans and fellow media colleagues for a job well done. I will not do justice if I do not commend The Gambian populace, backed by The GFA and the sitting Authorities in Government for the collective wisdom and caring, which must continue to reap the power of a unifying force in sports dispensation.

However, I humbly join a big bang campaign of concern civil societies in education, youths, sports, culture and development by calling on policy-makers to reconsider more emphasis on the investment of remedial resources in school sports and corresponding sports academies from Kartong to Koina for the sustenance of this great success and pocketing abundance drawbacks for our socio -economic benefits ahead.

Now that the Congo operation is history, all and sundry should ask ourselves what lessons have we learnt from the Congo 15th Edition of The African Youth Football Championship? All clubs (our spring boards to any national team) and technicians under the struggling Gambia Coaching Association am sure have no doubt, discovered risky slip ups, sloppiness in tactics and physics or progresses made in some other areas. To sum up, I encourage our bronze holders to work harder.

They are at their footballing age with a newly found treasure of their time as opposed to their predecessors. In fact, they are a trophy winning troop. Capturing the World Cup in Canada will be the icing of the cake- For the Gambia Our Home Land.
