Two police officers charged for kidnapping

Omar Jarjusey and Karamo Saidy, both personnel of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) were on Monday, March 12, arraigned before the Bundung Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay, on charges of conspiracy, kidnapping and robbery, with violent conduct, contrary to the Criminal Code, Laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offence, Count One stated that, on March 1, 2007, at Kololi, in the KSMD of the Republic of The Gambia, Omar Jarjusey and Karamo Saidy connived and stole the sum of 3000 Euros from one Mr. John.

Count Two revealed that on March 1 2007, at Brufut, in the Western Region, the two accused persons kidnapped or abducted one Mr. John at Elephant Guest House, Brufut, from 1st to 2nd March 2007.

Count Three also indicated that, on 1st of March 2007, at Kololi, in the Kanifing Municipality, of the Republic of The Gambia, Omar Jarjusey and Karamo Saidy forcibly robbed one Mr. John and Johanese of 3000 Euros.

When the charge sheet was read to them, they both pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them. However, they were remanded at the State Central Prisons in Mile 2.

The case was adjourned to Wednesday March 21, for the prosecutor to open his case. Corpral 772 Samateh stood in for the IGP.
