Salifu K. Jaiteh Grants Relief Package to 300 Flood Victims in CRR

Friday, August 17, 2007

Salifu K. Jaiteh, a Gambian businessman, has donated six bales of second hand clothing worth about D40,000.00 to the victims of torrential rains in Kuntaur and Dobo in the Central River Region.

According to our correspondent in the area, the package comes in response to the exigencies of havoc-wreaking rains that damaged properties and foodstuff in the two villages.

Underscoring their appreciation for the donation, the authorities in the region thanked Salifu K. Jaiteh for the timely gesture. They assured that it would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the people affected.

It could be recalled that about 300 people, most of them women and children from Dobo and Kuntaur, were forced to take shelter at the health centre and the school at Dobo Sami District following days of heavy down pour last week.
