Magistrate EF M’bai of Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Monday granted bail to Neneh Jallow, Ousman Gaye, Awa Jallow and Oumie Bahum, all of Lamin village, Kombo North, to the sum of D5,000 each, after assaulting one Amie Jaiteh of Lamin village by beating her, thereby causing her actual bodily harm.
According to the charge sheet, Count One revealed that, the four accused persons on July 25th, 2007 at Lamin village, jointly connived and assaulted Amie Jaiteh by beating her.
Count Two stated that, the four accused persons on the same day and the same village entered in the same Amie Jaiteh’s compound with intent to intimidate or annoy her.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
At that juncture, the Police Prosecutor, Cpl 413 Sanyang, who represented the IGP, told the court that he has four witnesses to testify in this case before it was subsequently adjourned for Tuesday August 28th, for continuation.
In the same court, the trespass case involving one Duta Drammeh and thirteen other youths of Pirang could not proceed, due to the absence of the first prosecution witness, said the Police Prosecutor ASP Camara.
According to him, the first prosecution witness in these cases was sick and could not attend the court.
When asked by Magistrate M’bai, whether there are other witnesses, he objected that, he has four witnesses and Magistrate M’bai responded by saying, despite that the first witness is not present others should be present.
He then adjourned the case to Tuesday 28th August and ruled that, if the prosecution and his witnesses are absent in the next adjourned date, the accused persons will be discharged.
