Oummul Qura Foundation Donates to Muslims

In keeping with its tradition of helping the poor and needy during the holy month of Ramadan, the Oummul Qura Foundation yesterday distributed consumables including rice, sugar and oil to some Muslims at a ceremony held at its headquarters in Latrikunda Sabiji.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Alieu Mustapha Cham, President of the Foundation revealed that the donation was made possible thanks to support of their partner – the Association of Red Crescent in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.  He hailed them for the kind gesture, adding that his organization is also grateful to the Gambia government for allowing them to operate in the country.

Sheikh Abubacarr Muhammad Lowe, the Vice President who doubles as Project Manager of Oummul Qura Foundation noted that they are always poised to help the poor and needy adding that plans are underway for them to make another donation before end of Ramadan.

For his part, the alkalo of Latrikunda Sabiji, Landing B Jatta applauded Oummul Qura Foundation for ‘their continued selfless service to humanity’. He described the birth of the organisation as a blessing to the community of Latrikunda and its satellite areas.

The occasion which was chaired by Alhaji Ousman Jah of the Supreme Islamic Council was attended by the staff of Oummul Qura foundation as well as the beneficiaries themselves.
