Berending ‘killer’ charged

ASP Sulayman Secka, the public relations officer of the Gambia Police Force, has confirmed to this paper that Morro Demba, a young man who reportedly butchered a 63-year old woman to death, in the village of Berending, in Niumi, North Bank Region, has been charged with murder.

Pressed on the state of mind of the suspect, the police spokesperson said that they had not found any “meaningful” disorder to mentality of the accused.

The suspect reportedly murdered Adama Sonko in cold blood, on Thursday afternoon, with a cutlass. Relatives of the deceased who spoke to this paper said the alleged killer was seen walking towards the compound of the deceased, roaring with threats to take someone’s life.

Sources added that the deceased who managed to lock herself in her house with the children, was eventually caught and hawked to death by Morro Demba.
