Kebba Sanyang, Principal Magistrate of the Kanifing Magistrate court was yesterday appointed as the Attorney General and Secretary of State for Justice with effect from November 13, 2006.
A press release from the office of the President stated: "It is hereby announced that His Excellency, the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has appointed Mr Kebba Sanyang as Attorney General and Secretary of State for Justice with effect from yesterday, 13 November 2006".
Mr Sanyang who replaces Sheikh Tijan Hydara, served as a Magistrate until 2004, when he was appointed Principal Magistrate, Kanifing Magistrate court, a position he held until his latest appoinment.
