GRTS’ Dodou Sanneh Sacked Again

Friday, November 24, 2006
Reports reaching this paper have revealed that Mr. Dodou Sanneh, a senior producer at the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS), has had his services terminated with immediate effect.
According to our source, the recently reinstated GRTS producer got his marching orders on Monday.

A letter dated 20th November 2006 and addressed to Mr Sanneh stated: “ I am directed to inform you that your services with GRTS are terminated with immediate effect. In this connection you are requested to hand over all GRTS properties that may be under your custody to your supervisor or head of unit. “We thank you for the services you rendered to GRTS.”

When contacted last evening by this paper, Mr. Sanneh confirmed the story, saying: “ Yes I received a letter on Monday that states that my services with GRTS have been terminated with immediate effect. It is shocking because I don’t I know the reason why I was fired. One Yaya Saidykhan of the administrative unit of GRTS called me informing me that I have an assignment and no sooner I arrived at the office than I was given my termination letter. So I still don’t know the reason I was fired.”

Mr Sanneh, a renowned journalist, began work at GRTS on 1st October 2000. It would be recalled that Mr. Sanneh was fired on 7 September but got reinstated few weeks later.

Meanwhile, when contacted to shed light on the story, the Director-General of GRTS, Alhajie Momodou Sanyang, refused to comment, banging the phone on this journalist’s ears.
