Nursery school, skills centre for GADHOH

Gambia Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (GADHOH) on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for its Nursery School and Skills Training Centre at its new site in Kanifing. The project is sponsored by an Irish foundation, called BUNGANALA at a tune of 50,000 euros.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Isatou Sanyang of GADHOH said the project is designed to provide nursery school and skills training for its members. She said the donors are long time sponsors of his association as they provide a tune of D24, 750 for the building of a bakery.

For his part, Dodou Loum, Executive Director of GADHOH, said the project is to benefit deaf people in acquiring skills to reduce unemployment among them. He then commended the donors for their gesture for it will complement government efforts in the education sector.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Ms Marieke Tjsendoom, Chairperson of BUGANALA foundation, Mr. Amadou Touray of Gamtel and Mr. Daniel Mendy, Principal of St John School for the Deaf.
