KMC CEO fired

Monday, April 23, 2007
Ebrima Jobarteh, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), was fired last Tuesday, according to authoritative information reaching the Daily Observer.

Sources reveal that Mr Jobarteh has since been replaced by Abdoulai Sanyang, the former APRC candidate for Serrekunda Central. Mr Sanyang’s appointment was confirmed by KMC’s Public Relation Officer, Pa Kalifa Sanyang, but he did not give any comment concerning Mr Jobarteh’s removal from office.

Mr Jobarteh’s sacking came on the heels of the removal of the acting Mayor of KMC, Francis Gomez. No reason has yet been made public for the removal of Mr Jobarteh.

However, Mr Sanyang was also seen at the official opening of the Reliance Finance Services outlet at the Serrekunda market, where he appeared in his capacity as the Councils’ new CEO and was welcome by the women Yai-Compins during the ceremony, together with Mayor Alieu Momar Njie.
