Cyclists ‘time trial’ on June 3rd

Saturday, June 2, 2007

The Gambia Cycling Association, (GCA) will on Sunday, June 3rd hold its second edition of the individual time trial competition among its members.

The trial competition sponsored by a British couple at MRC who are also members of the association will involve 20 cyclists. The trail will start from the Brusubi Junction down to Sanyang Village and will commence at 8.30 am.

Confirming this to Observer Sports yesterday, Modou Demba, Secretary General of GAC said the trial competition is aimed at developing the speed of the cyclists as well as to measure the level of their fitness.

“This will enable the cyclists to participate and compete in major cycling competitions such as the Gamstar Cross Country Competition which is scheduled for June 25th 2007. It will also serve as an opportunity for the weak cyclists to double the level of their performances so as to be able to compete”, he explained.

He further revealed that this year’s Gamstar sponsored cross-country championship is slated for June 25 and will cover a distance from Barra to Farafenni.
