The wrestling contest meant to revive the traditional sport in the country featuring Gambian and Senegalese wrestlers, kicked off last Saturday at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium.

In the first combat between Tyson of The Gambia and Yuba Jatta of Ziguichor which was a free-wrestling style one Yuba Jatta emerged victorious.

Timbae of the Gambia won Aristic of Ziguichor in the second free style combat.

Suwaibou of Ekir Walo in Senegal defeated his Senegalese counterpart Essa Colley of Pickin, in the wrestling/boxing combination event.

The event was attended by wrestling fans and some prominent members of the Gambian public.
