Division One returnees, Samger, have regained their position at the top of the league table after a convincing 2-0 win over Gamtel in their last night encounter at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Substitute Buba Jallow put the Serrekunda East side forward in the sixty-seven minutes, before Omar Jassey, commonly known as Waterman, doubled the advantage just eight minutes to stoppage time.
With fellow contenders, Armed Forces, subduing to Wallidan at the Independence Stadium, the 2-0 victory helped Samger oust the Soldiers at the top spot with 12 points in five matches.
In a his post-match interview with journalists, Samger’s assistance coach, Omar Joof, said they were delighted to have put behind their last week defeat by Ports Authority with a resounding win over the last season’s league runners up.
His counterpart, coach Alhaji Sillah, admitted that his side were not in good shape.
“We had prepared for this game, but it’s a pity that things did not work for us,” he said.
Elsewhere at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, the relegation escapees, Steve and Samger, shared the spoils after a heated 1-1 draw.
