Wallidan hoping for top spot -As Division One League resumes today

Friday, May 9, 2008
The dethroned champions, Wallidan, will hope climb to the top spot of the table for the first time when they square-up against Sait Matty-Africell today in the Week Thirteen fixtures of the national Division One league at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.

The Blue Boys emphatic 3-1 win against Armed Forces on Sunday saw them cut the gap on leaders, Real de Banjul and Samger, to only one point, and a win for them in today’s fixture will automatically see them overtake fellow contenders who will be in action during the weekend.

In another fixture today, Bakau United and Gamtel will lock horns at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium. Both sides will go into the game buoyed up by their last weekend victories against their respective opponents.

On Saturday, Steve Biko will take on Armed Forces at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, while Samger face struggling Interior at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on the same day.

The final Week Thirteen matches will be played on Sunday with Hawks taking on Sea View at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, while Ports Authority take on Real de Banjul at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
