GPU' S Cyber café opened

With a view towards helping journalists to cope with modernity, the Gambia Press Union (GPU) last week opened a cyber café at its Secretariat located along Mosque Road in Serrekunda.

Speaking to the Daily Observer on this new development, Madi Ceesay, GPU's President, mentioned that the main objective of this pilot project is to get journalists on board. For him, the project in which GPU has already embarked will pave the way for the Media Centre, a long time initiative which is yet to materialized.

The GPU's prexy also indicated that starting from the 1st to 10th December 2006, all members of the journalist national body can get free access to the internet. He then stated that as from Monday December 11 2006, one can browse at the GPU internet service at affordable prices.
