Dawda Ceesay Wins S/K Central Run For Health Marathon

Dawda Ceesay is winner of the Serrekunda Central Red Cross Link Run for Heath 5km marathon, held last Saturday.

Ceesay came out first in the 5km category for boys followed by Saikou Barrow and Alhagie Bah, in the second and third place respectively.

In the 3km category for girls, Adama Touray emerged first. Isatou Bah grabbed the second position, while Mariama Sano came third.

Susu Gomez, Sang A Mendy and Sheriffo Fofona came out first, second and third position respectively in the 3km for boys.

Amadou Korka Jallow, coordinator of the programme, said the marathon, which was sponsored by the Plymouth  Banjul Challenge, was aimed at giving opportunity to less privileged youth to take in such activities.

He added that the marathon was also to complement the efforts of the Department of State for Youth and Sports on how to promote health through sport.
