A Serekunda based business magnate, Alhajie Ali Mbye Buga Mbahal, recently gave a major facelift to Serekunda Mosque, when he donated brand new carpets worth more than D100, 000.
With this latest gesture the Serekunda Mosque has been taken to the next level as the interior is now completely covered with luxurious carpets.
Worshipers who frequent the Mosque will without doubt notice the new development as the old carpets were worn and in poor condition.
Many who have already seen the new floor covering have been quick to lavish praise on Mr. Mbye for his humanitarian gesture.
Day in day out people of calibre call on him at his shopping mall in Serekunda to commend him. Some also call him on the phone to express their delight as the gesture could not have come at a better time than now.
This reporter, who is a family friend, met with a number of Muslim elders including Imam Alhajie Modou Lamin Khan who had called to personally thank Mr. Mbye. Imam Khan not only prayed for Mr. Mbye but also vouched for his patriotism, humanitarian spirit and magnanimity. For Imam Khan, Alhajie Ali Mbye is a Muslim through and through and has been lending all kinds of support to Muslims in the country for many years.
He therefore paid glowing tribute to Mr. Mbye and urged him not to rest on his laurels as one of The Gambia’s foremost philanthropists.
Amadou Touray, the Public Relations Manager of Gamtel, Alhajie Alieu Mamour Njie, KMC’s former Mayor and a host of high profile Gambians all showered a litany of praises on the Mamut Fana-born businessman and philanthropist.
