Journalists End week-long training

At least five journalists namely Momodou Justice Darboe and Nfamara Jawneh of The Point Newspaper, Baboucarr Sowe and Saikou Ceesay of Foroyaa Newspaper and Saul K Saidy of News and Report Magazine recently completed a week long training on journalism and photojournalism at the Gambia Press Union (GPU) offices in Serre Kunda.

The training is organised by the GPU and funded by the Gambia Media Support (GAMES)

Speaking to this reporter Mr. Ttroels Norlem, a photojournalism trainer, described photojournalism as very important. “I have been training photographers in Mozambique and is always interesting. I do hope that GAMES, the organisation which I represent, will continue in the future to provide more of this kind of training”. He encouraged his trainees to keep practicing the skills they have acquired.

 For his part, Mr. Nfamara Jawneh expressed his gratitude to the organizers for their initiative adding that capacity building is essential in any given profession. “I was in the photojournalism section, but really I learnt a lot. I would also like the organisers to extend the training to more journalists” he said.

The other trainer was Eva Dalgaard Dadreassen, in her section journalism as a subject.
