The league title holders, Real de Banjul, have earned their first win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Africell/Sait Matty on Saturday at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.

Substitute Malthy Okpara was brought down in the eighteen-yard box and Mbenga Colley made no mistake in converting the spot-kick to break the deadlock in the 85th minutes.

Friday’s encounter saw a fascinating display from both sets of players, as Sait Matty side unveiled their new signings including former under 17 goalie Abdoulie Njie and defender Yankuba Jammeh both former Steve Biko players.

Elsewhere on the same day, Armed Forces suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Samger at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium. The narrow, but much needed victory, was Newcomers’ second win in two matches.

Wallidan and Interior were locking horns at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium at the time of going to press last night.
