Rise and Shine Photo Lab opens

The management of Rise and Shine Photo Lab, in collaboration with The Gambia Professional Photographers’ Association (GPPA), recently opened a new branch of Rise and Shine Photo Lab in Serrekunda. Located along Bartise Street, the half-a-million dalasis project is aimed at satisfying the growing demand in the sector.

Initiated by Lazarus A. Bangura, a Sierra Leonean national, the photographic laboratory provides an up-to-date technological platform to its clientele. It is also meant to open job opportunities for Gambian youths.

Speaking to the Daily Observer, Lazarus A. Bangura, who is also the proprietor, revealed that he had been practicing the photography profession over the past twenty year’s, here in The Gambia. ‘‘We believe that The Gambia has the potentials for investment, especially in the photographic industry,’’ he explained.

For his part, Lamin Saho,  managing director of the said photo laboratory, commended The Gambia government for creating a conducive environment for business. He then added that it was a positive move towards the Silicon Valley target.

Babucarr S. Trawally, President and co-founder of GPPA, recalled that photography constitutes a noble profession. ‘‘In the field of photojournalism, the profession also produce informative pictures in most of the Gambian newspapers and magazines,’’ he hinted.

The inaugural event was blessed by Pastor Israen of the Winner’s Chapel. A big crowd attended the ceremony.
