‘Pay D2,000 or go to jail’

Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara of the Bundung Magistrates Court on Monday convicted and sentenced one Amadou Bah to a fine of D2,000 in default to serve a three-month imprisonment. Amadou Bah pleaded guilty to the charge of assaulting one Cherno Bah with a stick on August 19, at Sukuta Nema in Kombo North District, Western Region, causing him injuries on his forehead.
In his mitigation plea, Mr Bah asked for the indulgence of the court, vowing that he would not repeat the act again.
In her judgement, Magistrate Sillah-Camara said the court had considered the show of remorse by the accused.
Sergeant 772 Samateh stood in for the IGP.
