In its customary drive towards providing an accessible and affordable education for Gambians, Mandinaba Community Library (MCL), under the Mandinaba Youth and Sports Committee’s ‘Nafaa" for all initiative, has recently made another remarkable distribution of over Five hundred books of different educational disciplines to three more schools within Western Region.

The latest lucky schools to have benefited from this benevolent gesture were Jambanjelly Basic Cycle School in Kombo South, Magic Man Nursery School in Jambur Village and Mandinaba Nursery School.

Kawsu Sanno, Chairperson of Mandinaba Youth and sports committee, while presenting the books, described the distribution as "an indispensable move that couples with an infinite capacity." He noted that the distributions were made possible through the untying efforts of their American counterpart institute, called the Wings of the Dawn international institute for children.

Mr Sannoh stressed that the best tool to give to children for their progress is "Education", citing the fact that the level of commitment from his committee members has indicated a promising result for some students in the next few years. "In two or three years to come, he said, "Students in Western Region will be doing well in their examinations than the previous years."

Mr Sanno then urged the beneficiaries to make the books available to students as they will make great impacts on their education carrier.
For his part, Ousman Trawally, head master of Mandinaba Nursery School, expressed overwhelming gratitude to the donors, emphasising the fact that the books would go a long way to inculcate excellent reading habits in his students, in preparation for lower basic school.

He expounded on the issue of depriving children from acquiring education, describing it as an embarrassing mistake that needed to be curbed in this twentieth century. Mr Trawally then urged the students to embrace the books by constantly reading them, challenging them to hold education with seriousness and not to overdo things.

Mr Ousman Manneh, the Library assistant at the Mandinaba community library, outlined the impacts the library has had on the educational standards of the students of the Village and its environs. He noted that the library, since its establishment, has been providing students with friendly and conducive environment for reading, with a solar lighting system. He compared it to the days when students used to depend on candles to do their academic work.

Mr Manneh then called on the beneficiaries to make maximum utility of the books, promising that the Mandinaba community library would always be committed to providing accessible education to the students.

It could be re-called that this Library, earlier in March this year, also distributed over one thousand five hundred books to over ten schools within Western region.
