Boost for NUDY

A container of materials comprising clothes, shoes, among others, worth over £4,500, has recently been off loaded at the Port Authority in Banjul and is set for distribution among members of the National Union of Disabled youths (NUDY).

These materials were donated by Dr. Ancha Jagne Ceesay, NUDY’s Goodwill Ambassador in UK.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at father Farrell Memorial Hall at Westfield, last Satruday, Dr Jagne Ceesay said that she has been helping NUDY for the past 3 years and that she would continue to support them.

An educationist, retired teacher and gender activist, Dr Jagne ceesay encouraged the disabled youths to work hard to gain a better living, adding that disability does not mean inability”.

She thanked her husband, friends, and family for the support given to her to enable her donate to the disabled youths in The Gambia every year.

For his part, Pa Malick Ceesay , executive secretary of the National Youth Council, on behalf of Mass Axi Gaye, SoS for youths and sports, commended Dr, Jagne-Ceesay for the benevolent gesture, adding that it would help to improve the living conditions of the disabled youths in the country. He urged others to emulate her.

Sylvain Chauvet, General Manager of Corenthia Atlantic Hotel in Banjul, hailed Dr Ancha Jagne-Ceesay for the gesture. He revealed that he has employed about five disabled youths in Atlantic Hotel. He called on other institutions, NGOs ,hotels and Agencies to employ the disabled to earn them better living.
