The Islamic Ummah is mourning Cherno Mountaga Taal, Spiritual Leader of the Omarian family, who passed away last Friday evening at the age of 90 years.
He succeeded his elder brother, Cherno Seydou Nourou on January 20th, 1980.
He was finally laid to rest on Saturday at the Cherno Saidou Mausoleum.
It could be recalled that the late religious leader was born in Halwar- a direct descent of Al hadji Sheikh Omar Foutuwou Taal. His ruling was characterised by the implementation of big plans, such as the building one of the largest Mosques in Dakar, along Malick Sey Avenue.
