Senegalese faces rape charges

Alieu Bah, a Senegalese national was on Monday February 26, arraigned before Bundung Magistrate Court, presided over by Magistrate Amina Saho, on charges of attempted rape, contrary to Section 123 of the Criminal Code.

According to the particulars of the offence, on January 18, 2007, at Manjai Kunda, in the KSMD, the accused attempted to have unlawful carnal knowledge of a woman (name withheld). When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty, saying he did not actually attempt to rape the lady, but was in that compound for a different reason as he is a businessman.

However, he was granted bail in the sum of D5,000 with a Gambian surety. The case was adjourned to February 12, for continuation.
