The ongoing criminal case, involving five Senegalese Customs officers, who were allegedly arrested on The Gambia’s territorial waters, with arms and ammunitions, has been deferred to March 8.

The five officers comprised Serign Ngum, Pape Drammeh, Saidou Thiam, Yusu Diop and Alieu Thiam.

Appearing at the court on Thursday, Sajor Jahateh, who held brief for Lawyer Antouman Gaye asked the court for time in order to enable herself to get more knowledge about the case.

However, Ms Jahateh briefed the court about Alieu Thiam’s health conditions, who she claimed has visited the RVTH for a medical check-up.

Meanwhile, Alieu Thiam, the fifth accused person, told the court that he has undergone operation and he needed to be medically scan. State Counsel Marley Wood then demanded a medical certificate to confirm the accused person’s condition.

At this juncture, presiding Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh ordered the Director General of prisons to take Alieu Thiam to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital for medical check up, before the adjourned date.
