Idrissa Seck Receives Go Ahead from Party Militants

The leader of Senegalese Opposition party, Rewmi, Idrissa Seck currently in France, has received the green light from his party militants to go ahead and discuss with President Maitre Abdoulaye Wade the modalities of coming together with the ruling Senegalese Democracy Party (PDS).

In a meeting of the central bureau, which turned out to be an extraordinary congress last week in Rufisque, the leadership of Rewmi party appreciated the call made by Maitre Wade, President of Republic Of Senegal and Secretary General of the ruling Senegalese Democracy Party (PDS), inviting the former Prime Minister’s party to join in the reconstruction of the big liberal family.

The invitation was approved by delegates from 34 out of the 35 departments in the country.

The extraordinary congress presided over by Oumar Sarr, spokesperson of the Party, was conducted with enthusiasm and discipline and registered the presence of all big wigs of the Political Bureau of Rewmi including Omar Gueye, Garmy Fall, Nguirane Ndiaye, Opa Ndiaye Yankhoba Diattara, Samba Bathily among others.

According to the final communiqué of the extraordinary congress, Idrissa Seck has the support of the party to go and discuss with Maitre Wade the modalities of bringing the two political parties together and forge future alliance with Maitre Abdoulaye in the interest of the country.

The communiqué also called on militants of Rewmi Party to rally behind their leader, Idrissa Seck.

In that line the communiqué further thanked the delegates from all parts of the country, the youth, women, teachers and the council elders for their presence which shows the interest Rewmi party militants have in national development.

According to the congressmen and women, Idrissa Seck has played a historic role in keeping up the power of the Liberal party in Senegal.

Despite giving their support to Idrissa Seck to go ahead with the reconciliation, Rewmi militants deplored the difficult economic and social situation the country is going through, which needs action from all patriotic citizens.
