The most awaited wrestling bout in Senegal between Mohamed Ndao alias Tyson of Kaolack and Bombardier ” B 52” of Mbour, ended with big confusion.
Thousands of supporters, who attended the bout at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar on Sunday 7th January 2007, went home disappointed and unhappy with the outcome of the bout.
The trio referees gave victory to Bombardier following Tyson refusal to return to the arena claiming of beating Bombardier despite many wrestling fans and technicians disagreed with the verdict.
In the highlights of the bout, Bombardier launched attacks on Tyson at the start of the combat as he did in 2002 when the two wrestlers met.
Tyson, who learned from those mistakes applied new tactics to counter Bombardier options.
On one of Bombardier’s attacks, the two wrestlers found themselves on the soil in a very difficult situation to be judged as it was favourable to both wrestlers.
In that junction, Tyson claimed victory but after consultation the three referees decided to call the wrestlers for a re-start of the bout saying that both wrestlers torched the soil simultaneously.
Tyson rejected the verdict and left the stadium and the referees finally gave victory to Bombardier according to the rules and regulations.
Bombardier received the solidarity Trophy in the hands of Senegalese Prime Minster Macky Sall.
