Wade Receives Big Welcome in Ziguinchor

The incumbent in the February 25 presidential polls in Senegal, Maitre Abdoulaye Wade, on Monday received a big welcome in the southern region of Casamance in the day two of the campaign.

The Stadium Aline Sitoe Diatta could not contain thousand of supporters of the Ruling PDS Party, who turned to show support to their candidate.

The crowd comprising of Youth and Women stormed the stadium as early as 9.00am to await the arrival of Wade.

The ambiance combined with the organization demonstrated that the Ziguinchorois have opted for continuity by voting massively for Wade in the first round.

Both the leaders of the Male and Female wings Lansana Diao and Madam Aw respectively have hailed President Wade immense development projects in Education, infrastructures, decentralization and specially working for peace in Casamance.

Addressing Party militant, Abdoulaye Wade said that when elected on February 25, he would launch a positive discrimination in favour of Casamance.

He revealed that Casamance is a sacred region in Senegal and could be the source of development for the country.

He reaffirmed his readiness to continue the reconstruction of the southern region of Senegal, which was destroyed by two decades of civil crises.

He called on the population to support the peace process underway in the region.

He finally called on the youth to participate effectively in the socio-economy development of their region.

Before Ziguinchor, Maitre Wade had a meeting in Oussouye and met senior members of his party in the locality.

Addressing the Oussouye meeting, Wade called on the population to consolidate the existing peace in the locality.

He openly called on the young people in his rebellion to come out from the bush as the best is awaiting them after the February 25 polls.

“Since I elected as head of State of this country I have established peace in Casamance so let us all wok in consolidating it and stop violence,” he told his militants.

Over 15,000 Voters could miss Election

The distribution of voters’ card in the department of Kebemer is going well but a technical error risk to deprive over 15,000 voters to go to the polls on February 25.

In Ndande, a locality in the department of Kebemer over 15,000 voters is facing the problem of receiving their cards.

According to the authority local, the photos of those 15,000 voters were badly taken and could not be used on the cards.

But to serve the electorates affected the Interior Minister has sent an special commission in the locality to register again those affected by the problem but still now the cards are not yet available.

The victims are appealing to the commission responsible for registering the electorates to come to their aid, as they could not afford to miss the election.

It could be recalled more than 83,783 are registered in the department of Kebemer but only 68% have received their cards.

17 Top PDS Members Resign

In a declaration made public on Monday 17 top members of the ruling PDS in Foundiougne, have announced their decision to quit the party.

They accused Maitre Abdoulaye Wade of lacking coherence in the management of the party.

The shocking decision came only two days after the official kick off the presidential campaign for the February 25 polls in Senegal.

Some of the members are: El Hadji Ibrahima Mbow, member of the Federal bureau of PDS in Foundiougne, Abdou Diouf, former Chairman of local council of Touba counda, Mbaye Diankha, former chairman of the local council of Keur Saloum Diane, Ousmane Ndiaye, Chairman of Niombato Farmers Association and Mariama Drame political Leader in Passy among others.

All the 17 people have signed their resignation letter and sent to the party regional office in Kaolack.

Landing Savane Storms Fatick

The leader of And Jeff- PADS, Landing Savane arrived in Fatick in the second day of his campaign for the February 25 presidential election.

Addressing his party militants in a big rally, Landing Savane said that Fatick is not consider compare to the other regions in Senegal and proposed a new dimension of the decentralization.

Mr. Savane revealed that he was very happy to meet again his serer brothers.

He lamented the need of creating job opportunities for the youth of Fatick and Saloum. He added that the main Hospital in Fatick is not functional despite the recent construction of new buildings.
