The draw for the finals of the 15th edition of the African Youth Championship [U-20] to be held in Congo would take place in Brazzaville later this month.
According to a circular from CAF and sent to all National Associations in the continent that would qualify for the finals of the African Youth Championship, Mustapha Fahmy, General Secretary of CAF, said that the date of the draw is set for October 29th 2006.
He said the event would take place in the presence of the President of the
Organising Committee of CAF Youth Competitions, Mr. Slim Aloulou.
Mr Fahmy added that all football associations that would make it to Congo should send their representative in Congo to attend the ceremony.
“Failure of any representative to be present shall not debar CAF from proceeding with the drawing of lots at the scheduled date and time” he stated.
Meanwhile, the African Youth Championship has barely less that one week to determine the seven teams that would emerge winners to join Congo, the host for the finals next year.
However, Brundi, Egypt, South Africa, Zambia, Cameroun, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, Cote D' Ivoire, Mali, The Gambia, Burkina Faso and Ghana, have only on leg to compete in the weekend of October 20th, 21st and 22nd for a possibly qualification.
