Trial of Former NAWEC Boss Suffers Another Setback

Wednesday, October 18, 2006
The trial of the former Managing Director of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), Mr Abdoulie Jobe, and the former Power Supply Director of the same company, Mr Tijan Bahoum, could not proceed at yesterday’s sitting owing to the absence of the presiding magistrate, Mrs Mboto.

Magistrate Mboto’s vehicle was said to have developed a mechanical problem and thus could not be in court for the case. The defendants’ counsels, who were present in court, did not object to the deferral of the case, which is now set for November 1st.

The duo is facing charges related to economic matters at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court.
