The Gambia national U-20 on Saturday marked their entry in their first ever Africa Youth Championship appearance with a two nil victory over the Young Etalons of Burkina Faso.

The game, which was watched by thousands of spectators at Massamba-Débat stadium in Congo, Brazzaville, went in favor of Burkina Faso who dominated the first 15 minutes of the first half.

However, the Bukinabe’s domination became short lived as the Gambia team fired back and where able to hold them to a goalless draw, after demonstrating very outstanding performances and missed goal scoring chances.

The Gambia U-20 came into the second half by applying more pressure on the Burkinabe which gave them the upper hand. Their trick succeeded in the 62nd minute when Ousman Jallow netted in the first goal through a header from Abdoulie Mansally’s corner kick.

The goal came as a boast for the team and three minutes later Ken Abdoulie Mansally scored the winning goal from a short in the 25 yards.

Despite leading 2-0, the Gambia maintained its performance up to the final whistle.
