Gambian Fans Storm Brazzaville

Despite a three days delay of their departure, the Gambian fans, which left Banjul on Saturday afternoon, arrived in Congo Brazzaville.

The Gambian delegation is amounting to 106 people including 40 Scorpions Fans Club members and 10 Journalists.

150 people were previously expected to be ferried to Congo but due to the capacity of the plane only 106 made it to Brazzaville.

The Gambian delegation is led by the Permanent Secretary at the Department for State for Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs Alhagie Ebou Joof.

The 106 fans, sponsored by President Yahya A J J Jammeh through a Slok Air chartered fly, arrived safely on Saturday night at 23:30pm Congolese time.

Speaking to the Point yesterday evening Bye Cham the president of the scorpion Fans Club said the accommodations arrangements and food are all satisfactory and promised to cheer the boys up to the final.

Some of the delegates who also spoke to the Pointsports expressed similar sentiments and urged Gambians to continue praying for the success of the team.

Gambian nationals residing in Congo Kinshasa have also on Sunday joined the fans to cheer the team ahead of Tuesday’s match against Congo the host nation.

The team will play their last group match in Pointe Noire 900 km away from the capital which is 45 minutes fly.
