Assan Jatta, commonly known as Bierhoff, the Gambian international who plies his trade with SK Lierse FC of Belgium has been sidelined by a knee injury he sustained during their recent league match. The problem kept the 22-year-old Gambian international out of Lierse’s 0-2 defeat at the hands of Westerlo FC on Saturday, November 25.

The defeat meant that Lierse remains at the far bottom of the table with only two points in 14 matches. Lierse next fixture will see them lock horns with the third spot holders, Club Brugge, on Sunday December 3, 2006.

However, despite SK Lierse’s unpromising form, both Jatta and his team-mate, Mustapha Jarju are said to be giving excellent performances since their arrival in September.

Reports reaching Observer Sports revealed that the former Biko duo continues to attract several top giants in Belgium, even though their contracts commit them to Lierse until 2009.
