Churchill Baldeh, the majority leader in the National Assembly has said that, the 2001/2006 National Assembly or Legislative term has registered a tremendous success in terms of volumes of business undertaken by both the executive and the National Assembly.
Churchill Baldeh made these observations in an exclusive interview with the Daily Observer recently at his office in the National Assembly, Banjul.
He said the National Assembly, in conjunction with the executive has brought in a lot of positive development to the people of The Gambia, ranging from socio-economic, political and human developments.
The House Majority leader revealed that, the last session of the 2001-2006 Assembly term will begin on the 4th December 2006 and it is going to be the fourth session of the Legislative year.
He described the session as the budget session, because it is the session where the parliament will scrutinise and debate on the proposal budget for the 2007. The budget consists of estimates of revenues and expenditures for the 2007.
Churchill Baldeh noted that, the Assembly’s last session will take on business for which the executive would advice the National Assembly Members who would be given the opportunity to discuss various issues of national interest. He said the executive arm of the government has proposed to bring into the Assembly Bills on Telecommunications and on the former President Kairaba Jawara
