NPE United, over the weekend, claimed the Old Jeshwang Peace Football tournament after beating Dragon FC 1-0 in the long awaited final played at the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) Football field.
The tournament, which brought together eight teams, was sponsored by Mr Ousman Ceesay a native of the area.
Both teams put up a respectable performances during the tournament which paved their way to the finals.
Yaya Barry scored the only goal of the game for NPE in the eleventh minutes of the encounter on a penalty kick.
The early goal gave NPE the opportunity to put pressure on Dragon FC.
Dragon FC reacted immediately but lacked concentration in front of NPE’s goalmouth.
In the second half, things went in favour of Dragon as they put NPE under a complete pressure but failed to utilise their numerous chances.
The end of the match NPE United went away with a trophy and cash prizes while the runners up Dragon FC were award an undisclosed amount of money. The final was attended by hundreds of football spectators.
