Gambians Urged To Promote Wrestling

Dawda Touray, President of the Gambia Gold, Silver and Smith Association has called on all Gambians to compliment the efforts of the Gambia Wresting Federation in promoting the traditional sports in the country.

Speaking to Point Sports on Monday, Mr. Touray said wrestling, which is a traditional sport, should be taken seriously like other disciplines. “It is our culture and tradition so we have to bring it back to life” he pointed out.

Mr. Touray challenged the Gambia Wresting Federation to increase their efforts in making sure that wrestling is among the most played sport in the country. “As Gambians, I think we should be proud of our culture, comparing to the development of wrestling in Senegal they are far more advance than the Gambia, so we should do our best to reach that stage”. He commended Shyben A. Madi and Sons and other stake- holders for encouraging the promotion of sports especially wrestling and called on young people to practice the game of wrestling.
