The 2006 nawettan league in Serrekunda East has finally reached its final stage after two months of interesting and tough competitions. The league, which was contested by 24 teams, featured very surprising results.

In the first Semi Final played last Tuesday, Juventus FC booked their tickets to the final after beating TK Snookers 5-4 on post match penalty kicks. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes of battle.

On Wednesday Abuko United also reached the final after eliminating Wales 1-0. The grand Final is set for Sunday October 8th 2006 at the Serekunda East mini stadium. It could be noted that both Juventus and Abuko United were relegated after last year’s nawettan league due to poor performances but managed to qualify back to the nawettan proper, which paved their way to the finals.

Meanwhile the knockout semi finals will kick off today with Bantaba locking horns with Zurich in the first semi finals while Medina will take on last year’s league winners United Stars on Wednesday 27th September 2006. The final of the knockout championship is scheduled for Sunday 1st October 2006.
