The First Vice President of The Gambia Football Association, who also doubles as Chief of Defense Staff of Gambia Armed Forces, Col Lang Tombong Tamba has sponsored a giant trophy to be competed by various faculties at the University of The Gambia, Observer Sports has learnt.

The grand opening of the mouth-watery tournament will take place today at Gambia Hotel School play ground between Faculties of Humanities & Social Sciences and Faculties of Science & Agriculture. Col Tamba is expected to take the grand kick off, amidst of numerous sports elite.

Speaking to Observer Sports yesterday, Lamin LK Bojang, a Sports Officer at the University of The Gambia said the tournament will go a long way towards cementing the cordial relations that exists between the various faculties in the country’s highest institution. On the competition format, Bojang said the tourney will gather four teams. The four teams will meet in a league format and the team that scores the highest point will be declared the champions,” he said.

Bojang commended the sponsor, Col Lang Tombong Tamba for complementing President Jammeh’s effort in promoting sports.
