Anna Njie and some other Gambians, based in the United Kingdom recently donated D31,800,00 to the Gambia U-20 for their trip to Congo Brazzaville.
In an interview with the Daily Observer, Anna said she was approached by Lamin Jaiteh to organise a fundraising campaign for the U-20. “We did the fundraising on the 16 of December 2006 in London, UK, and we were able to gather some money to donate to the darling U-20”.
She added that although it was not easy to mobilize Gambian community in the UK to participate, but according to her she has succeeded in attracting top professionals within the Gambian community in the UK.
She however, commended Ousman Yabou, Deputy High Commissioner in the UK for gracing the occasion and putting great weight to the importance of patronising the U-20 team. She thank all those who came to the event to support the team and partnership with Malick Njok Jeng, Gambia United Society, Mariama Jeng, Nicole Joof and Jamil Trawally for their support in making the donation a success.
