Bun Gaye, Edrissa Jarra on trials with Portsmouth Academy

Just three days after two Gambian youngsters, Paul Jatta and Omar OJ Krumah left for trials in Southampton Academy; two other players namely Alhagie Bun Gaye of GPA and Edrissa Jarra of Real De Banjul also left Banjul on Friday 12th October 2007 for a three -week trial with premiership giant, Portsmouth Academy.

Speaking to Pointsport at the Airport just before their departure, the main man behind this wonderful arrangement, Kabba Ceesay, FIFA Players’ Agent with his counterparts from WMG marketing firm, revealed that three teams namely FC Porto, Reading and Portsmouth were vying of the two players and have sent invitation for them.

“We decided to opt for Portsmouth because they were more interested of having the players in their Academy as they were frequently calling me,” he said.

Kabba Ceesay pointed out that it was very difficult to identify the players because there were no Video clips of the players and he has to answer 168 questions to convince the team officials of getting the players in their Academy for trials.

He cautioned league teams officials to use video in their league matches which would help the players in future identification.

Mr Ceesay finally thanked GPA and Real De Banjul for their support during the process.

In his remark before leaving Gambian soil, Alhagie Bun Gaye expressed happiness and said that the trial came to him as a surprise because every thing went so fast.

He classified Kabba Ceesay like a father to him because he also encourage and support him.

“Am really prepared for the trial and by the help of God we will surely make it,” he said.

For Edrissa Jarra, he said that he was training very hard and when he received this very important news, it came as a surprise to him as all the arrangements went so quick.

“We know the big task awaiting us as it is a chance for us to develop our talent to the highest level possible,” he told Pointsport.

Edrissa revealed that he is very happy to be represented by Kabba Ceesay as he always gives us courage, good advice like his own sons.

“We are promising him and the entire Gambian populace that our aim is to play in the first team of Portsmouth and we will make sure it happen with the help of God,” he concluded.
