The Bakau nawettan league season is nearing its climax with only four teams left to fight it out for the coveted Western Union league title.
First to berth a spot in semi-final stages was Jazz FC who edged out African Magic in a post-match spot kick on Thursday after a goalless score in the regulation time. On Wednesday, the mighty Katchically United joined the fray after they came from behind to beat Fajara United.
A stoppage time equaliser saw Katchically United forced the keenly contested match to a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 full-time scores. And eventually, the the widely tipped league favourites, Katchically United prevailed winners.
On Saturday, Saul Samba ease past Late FM before Ron Mango also upset Sea View, by a 2-1 victory in their Sunday encounter.
In the semi-final fixtures, which will resume on Saturday, November 3, Saul Samba will square up against Jazz FC, while Katchically United will take on Ron Mango on Sunday, November 4, 2007.
Meanwhile, the knock-out quarter-final fixtures in Bakau will resume today with Katchically United taking on Late FM. A win for the Katchically United side will keep alive their dreams of clinching the double.
On Wednesday, October 24, Scan Tours will face J-Fin United in another knock-out quarter-final fixture. Mamakoto United will lock horns with Saul Samba on Thursday October 25, while Zebra and Jazz will square up against each other in the final quarter-final fixtures the following day.
