Borry Touray files for ‘stay of prosecution’

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Lawyer Borry Touray, the defence counsel in the ongoing impersonation trial involving Lamin Jarju of Lamin Village, Kombo North, has applied to the court for a ‘stay of prosecution’ pending the outcome of an appeal he filed at the High Court, against the court’s ruling that his client has a case to answer.

Defense Counsel Touray made this application on Tuesday at the Brikama Magistrates Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate EF M’Bai.

It could be recalled that during the last sitting, Lawyer Touray submitted that his client, Lamin Jarju, had no case to answer, but Senior Magistrate M’Bai maintained that Jarju has a case to answer.

This ruling prompted Lawyer Touray to apply for an adjournment to give him more time.

Magistrate M’Bai then adjourned the case to December 11 for continuation.
