Mr. Lamin Waa Juwara has clarified in a telephone conversation with The Point newspaper yesterday that he was not in fact the interim chairman of the Brikama Area Council but a member of the interim committee set up to oversee the conduct of the council in the run-up to the January local council elections.

In a chat with Mr. Pap Saine, Waa elucidated that Mr. Abdou F.M. Badjie is the interim BAC chairman though; he [Waa] is part of the committee that was constituted to oversee the affairs of the council in the build-up to the local council elections.

Mr. Juwara’s clarification followed hot on the heels of media reports that he was appointed as the chairman of BAC.
