The restructuring of the Department of State for Agriculture (DoSA) has now reached its climax, thus giving way for the establishment of National Agricultural Development Agency (NADA).
This is a new semi- autonomous body created by government, through an Act of the National Assembly. The new body will amalgamate the different departments under the Department of State for Agriculture to form the agency, which shall be headed by a Director-General answerable to Board of Directors.
Under the NADA structure, the Department of Agricultural Services will break into two directorates, namely Directorate of Technical Services and Directorate of Extension services. The Department of Cooperative will now be named the Department of Agric Business, while the Department of Livestock Services will be named Department of Vetinary Services.
The Department of Planning retains its name, while a new Directorate of Finance and Administration will be created for the agency. These departments will then be headed by a Director, who shall be answerable to the Director- General of the agency.
Under this new structure, the current staffs of the various departments are to reapply for all the positions in the agency and those who meet the criteria will be taken on board to fill the limited vacancies in the agency.
This move is intended to put in place an effective and efficient generation, mobilisation, and utilisation of human, financial and material resources for the sustainable development of the sector.
