Mr Sheikh Omar, SoS for Youth, Sports & Religious Affairs, admitted to Gambia’s solemn defeat on Saturday but said he is proud that the Scorpions lost with dignity and honour.

He said the football association and the coaches will meet and find out the problems and find a tangible solution for us to move ahead.

Col Lang Tombong Tamba, First Vice President Gambia Football Association and Chief of Defence Staff of Gambia Armed Forces, reechoed similar sentiments. Col Tamba attributed the defeat to some minor defensive lapses and therefore called on the Gambian fans to put themselves together and renew their support for the team, as according to him, this is not the end of the road for the Scorpions.
