Baby needs urgent help

Lamin Jaiteh, a three-month-old baby needs urgent assistance to allow him undergo congenital hydrocephalus treatment at overseas.

A medical report issued to the parents by the Medical Research Council indicated that Lamin was diagnosed of hydrocephalus and therefore needs congenital cydrocephalus treatment.

However, the report revealed that the baby had received treatment from the MRC to no avail, before he was referred to RVTH for further investigation and expert management.

Confirming the story to the Daily Observer, Awa Saine, mother of Lamin Jaiteh, said her son has been gabbling with the illness since after birth. “His body temperature goes high and he cries of pain always,” she said.

At the RVTH, Mrs Saine, who appeared unsettled about the state of her baby’s condition, said she was told that the country’s main referral hospital does not have the facilities to treat her baby of the illness.

She then appealed to individuals, the private sector, parastatals and charitable organisation to help in restoring the health of her baby. Those wishing to assist can contact 994 9178/ 992 0044.
