Gambia Win WALO Championships

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) have emerged victorious in the 34th edition of the West Africa Liaisons Office (WALO) championships after winning both the Football and Wrestling competitions.

The football final, which was held at the Independence Stadium, was between the Gambia Armed Forces and Guinea Conakry, which ended one all draw after 90 minutes of real battle. The Gambia Armed Forces finally won 4-3 in a post penalty shot-out.

At the end of the final, The Gambia Armed Forces were awarded a giant trophy sponsored by the Malian President General Amadou Toumani Toure. Abdoulie Sonko alias Tyson of the Gambia Armed Forces also won the Wrestling competition being the first of its kind sponsored by President Jammeh.
