Spanish sports journalists visit Observer

Rosa Maria Gago, a teacher from the Institute of ‘Virgen de la Paloma’ and Yilanda Gago, a sports journalist-cum-designer at Marca Newspaper in Spain, visited the Observer Company last week as part of their familiarisation tour to the various media outlets.

The duo who are sports specialists, were received by Nanama Keita, Sports Editor of the Daily Observer, who took them on a conducted tour of the various departments, including the editorial and printing departments.

Keita told the visitors that utmost prominence is given to sports at the Daily Observer as ,according to him, it is the only daily paper in the country that dedicates to two pages to sports.

Speaking to Observer Sports shortly after their visit, the duo expressed delight at what they saw at Observer. “This is great experience for us. As journalists, we always tour newspaper companies and fortunately enough, we were made to know that our newspaper company in Spain and the Daily Observer are using the same type of programme-QuarkXpress. Our printing methods are also synonymous,” said the duo who promised to share their experience with their colleagues when they return to Spain.

The teacher-Rosa Maria Gago said every month, she joins hands with her class to publish a magazine of graphical arts. She said featuring on their April magazine, will be the lessons learnt from their visit to the Observer Company.
