In its drive to equip its members with the latest rules and regulations governing four sporting disciplines namely Handball, Volleyball, Tennis and Basketball, the Gambia Sports Journalists Association, the umbrella body responsible for all sports writers and presenters in the country, would today embark on a four-day training programme.
The training, which would be on both theory and practical, when completed would help local journalists to participate fully in the revitalisation and promotion of the sporting disciplines concerned.
According to the President of the Gambia Sports Journalists Association, Namory Trawally, their dream of staging this important training was made possible through the financial assistance of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC ).
Mr. Trawally added that due to the engagement of its members’ in their respective Media Houses, the training has been divided into two phases.
“ The first phase would start today Friday April 13th with the official opening ceremony follow by the training on Volleyball and Tomorrow Saturday April 14th would be dedicated to Handball,” he revealed.
Continuing, Mr. Trawally pointed out that the second part of the training would be held on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st April 2007 with Basketball and Tennis respectively.
He added that the course directors would come from the different sporting Associations concern.
